Description

Each of the Groomkirbys has an idee fixe. Kirby is teaching his speak-your-weight machines the "Hallelujah Chorus"; his mother pays the neighbour to eat their left-overs; his aunt in her wheelchair is convinced she's touring the Hebrides; his father is building the Old Bailey in the living-room. When this is complete the judge and jury move in with some bizarre results...4 women, 10 men

I spent way too much time while reading this trying to decide if it was genius or too derivative or not really all that good. I came to the conclusion that it was not worth the amount of thought I was giving it; if it is genius, the genius did not shine through clearly for me. It seemed like sort of a mash up of You Can't Take it With You and The Skin of Our Teeth. I decided that if you need to mash up plays that are truly genius then perhaps you are just derivative, and left it at that. I could be wrong.

Absurdly brilliant; brilliantly absurd.
Weighing machines are at the heart of this farce.
