The story was shallow and not well fleshed out. When I read a sci-fi or paranormal book, I want to know about the world the main character, Kian in this case, comes from and how the magic works. This book only gave me small dribbles of the details I needed to even like Kian. Kian has the magik of fire and is on a revenge trip to kill the man who stole his Uncle's fire or magik therefore killing his Uncle. Kian needs the help of his mate, a human named Regan Campbell, to kill the "fire thief". I can only hope as a huge fan of R.J. Scott that the next book in the trilogy does a lot of explaining. ( ) This one's hard to rate. I didn't quite like it, but didn't dislike it either. It didn't feel like a whole, complete story. Even considering it's the first book in a trilogy. Much as I don't like doing so many half stars, 2.5 stars seems right, being exactly at half way point between 0 and 5. The beginning was very promising. I was immensely interested and impatient to know more about Kian. That's probably why I'm feeling kinda disappointed at the rather abrupt ending. no reviews | add a review
