I like this book because it is very relatable for children because it shows occupations their mothers have, where the children go while their parents are at work, and what they do when their parents get home. Many can relate because they go to some type of care while their mom goes to work or their mother has the same job.

Children can also guess job being described from clues and check to see if they are correct from the picture. This creates excitement and becomes a guess game for the children while they are reading. The writing the author uses helps this effect. Each page has the same structure. The first line, one every other page, is when mama goes to work. This creates some familiarity with the text for the children.

The illustrations show the children smiling and having a good time. Thus, portraying to students that going to a care program while your mom is at work should be enjoyable. The illustrations also show boys and girls and white and black children. This shows diversity among children.

The structure/plot of the story is very sequential. Firs all the children have their experience with their mom’s job, then at the daycare center, then at home. This is helpful so children can follow a pattern while they read.
