Magnificent book and movie. ( )

I enjoyed this book immensly and have trouble understanding why anyone would not. Unlike the highly romanticized movie the real theme behind Dr Z is the strong being ruled by the weak. How religion, politics and corruption overrule common sense and decency. Like many Russian works it does not complain about this state of affairs but instead asserts and reflects their existence and in so doing offers silent protest to the current state of human existence.
