A collection of short poems illustrated in black and white, evoking all kinds of topics from toilet paper to roller coasters and everything in between.

Loved the amounts of different poems that were represented in the book! There was a poem about everything! Some are silly, some are serious, either way, fun to read to the class! This book is a good one for examples of poetry that the students might be focusing on.

"Outside the Box" is a 171 page book filled with poems. These poems are about everything- from animals, kites to aliens. The poems have their own illustrations and format of how they are written. Some of the poems are written upside down and even sideways. This keeps the students interested and wanting to read more poems. Some poems are only a few words, which is better for younger readers. The main idea of these poems is for entertainment and to teach students about rhymes and different types of poems. ( )

I enjoyed these funny, silly, sometimes gross book of poetry. With a genre hard to jump into, this book allows for great readers' attention and whimsical illustrations. I recommend this book for elementary and middle school students. Many poems would be great jumping off point to create fan fiction similarities.
