I love Pete the cat books, I really enjoyed how it gave its own twist on the traditional twinkle twinkle little star. He made it silly and put a fun twist on the nursey rhyme. This book had really fun catchy colorful pictures. This is great for little ones because the book becomes attractive with all the fun colors and singing along.
Using the classic English children's lullaby as his text, artist James Dean creates another fun little Pete the Cat book. The bright and colorful illustrations depict that cool cat coming home and getting ready for bed, before drifting off to sleep with the words of the song being incorporated into his dream...
One of a number of these smaller song-based picture-books - Pete the Cat: The Wheels on the Bus, Pete the Cat: Old MacDonald Had a Farm - this title uses the full text of the lullaby, a poem by Englishwoman Jane Taylor that was first published in 1806. Like its predecessors in this vein, Pete the Cat: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star isn't really a full Pete the Cat adventure, but for fans of that feline, it is a nice introduction to show more a classic childhood song/poem. show less

I liked Pete the Cat: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star for three reasons. First, I enjoyed how the author, James Dean, made the song into a picture book. Second, I enjoyed the illustrations on each page. Each of the illustrations matched well with the text (ex. Pete the Cat was using a telescope to look at the stars). Third, the author emphasized some of the text with a larger font. This caught my eye right away, and made me emphasize the words in my head (ex. Then you show your little light, TWINKLE TWINKLE, all the night. In this story, the author is engaging his readers through song. He uses the original song “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and adds graphics on each page to go along with it. The big idea of this book is that a song show more can simply be turned into a picture book in a creative and unique way. James Dean was able to do this through his most popular character, Pete the Cat. show less

Pete the Cat brings us a hipster Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. I like Pete. He's cool. He's laid back. Great drawings. Pete's just plain fun.
Sing twinkle, twinkle little star with Pete the cat. This book is great to read to little children, it gives them a chance to learn a simple song and sing along. Colorful pictures and large text make this ideal for reading aloud to smaller children or for beginner readers.
