Refreshingly really does deal with gardening in small (more often than not) urban spaces - and for onace presented with an awareness of how "small" a small garden in an urban area like London can be. Takes a different approach in that the book is presented in sections about: choice, illusion, atmosphere and a guide to plants suitable for small gardens. Lots of snapshots of parts of gardens providing good ideas which can be adapted. Practicalities section gives some small garden plans and lists of plants for special purposes. no reviews | add a review
This work seeks to meet the reality of gardening in the very small spaces that most people have to work in. It shows how the restrictions imposed by space can be side-stepped and demonstrates what can really be achieved in restricted areas. Practical guidance is given on initial planning and choices and ways of exploiting the space, and suggestions are made for evoking a particular atmosphere. Over 30 illustrated planting schemes are included, as is a directory of 150 key plants for small spaces. No library descriptions found. |
