I felt rather sorry for Liam but also exasperated with him in his inability to accepted that his sexual orientation was more than likely bi and that his father’s bigoted opinions didn’t matter. His antics were sometimes very comical and Jay?... he was just a sweetheart that made the book warm and funny. I liked that he was smart...and at very at home in his skin. I tried to think how my two “book bringing” gay friends compared to Jay and will have to say that I am 150% sure there was no way either of them would be caught dead wearing lipstick of any shade or bright red plaid pants. But hey...it suited Jay just fine. I couldn’t wait for Liam to just accept Jay for who he was and get on with the program. Somehow the author made show more these two sometimes kinky and exhausting character work. show less
This was a really good book that had a lot of heart. It was realistic, it was fun, and hilarious, and it had me from the beginning. I haven't read many books with effeminate MCs, and I think I totally need to read more, because I just loved Jay and his vivacity and unapologetic personality. I think anyone who knows him is lucky to have such a passionate and fearless friend. And Liam was such a good, classy guy. He was the knight in shinning armor coming to Jay's rescue time after time, and it was so beautiful to watch how his life changed and his passions came roaring to life once he fell for Jay.
I loved the supporting cast, especially all the supportive family members on both sides (and the not-so-supportive ones got nicely put in show more their places by the others). I loved the story, the slow progression of friends (when everyone thinks Liam's straight) to lovers. This story was just a joy to read from cover to cover, and I highly recommend it to everyone. If you like a good story with realism, humor, and heart, this is for you.
"'Jay?'
'Yeah?'
'I have something I need to tell you.'
The smile died on his face as he looked at me with solemn eyes. 'Yeah?'
'Babe, I think I'm gay.'
He burst into laughter, almost rolling off the bed. 'Liam? Guess what? I think I'm gay, too.'
I pretended to mop at the sweat on my brow. 'Oh, thank goodness. Because this could've been really awkward if you weren't.'
He collapsed into giggles, so I pushed him off the side of the mattress. He thumped to the floor and kept on with his laughter. I shook my head and headed to the bathroom, leaving him with his mirth."

A really cute book. Take one frustrated alpha male (Liam) who has been crippled by an accident and mix him with an out and out twinky and fabulous gay man (Jay).
There were a couple of inconsistencies that I noticed, but it didn't really impact on my enjoyment. There's a lot to laugh about, but the book deals primarily with acceptance - of Jay, of Liam realising that he is likely gay, of Liam's family and friends coming to terms with that, of Liam forgiving himself for his disability etc.
