Charlie Bumpers is a protagonist worth rooting for--well-liked and friendly but not the most popular; bright, but not a know-it-all; a little insecure, but not willing to give into those insecurities. It's those insecurities that make Charlie so likeable. In The Squeaking Skull, Charlie has three challenges this Halloween: 1) deciding what to dress up as, 2) not breaking his little sister's heart because they won't be trick-or-treating together, and 3) getting through a sleepover with friends where they are going to watch the scariest movie in the whole world! Charlie's big brother has the solution for Charlie's sleep over worries; tell Charlie scary stories so that he becomes immune to scary situations. A fun title from a fun series.
