Great characterization but the plot is complete shambles. Definitely the result of being the second book in a trilogy. Except, this book can't stand on it's own. It's the middle of a larger story, with no conclusions at the end, just a "to be continued" hanging around like a three part episode.
I really enjoyed this one, particularly the Samantha Wildman and Doctor Sharak storyline.
