Two very different worlds merge for a brief moment, but reality can't be suspended forever. Chaos breaks loose both within and beyond the club. Tensions that have been simmering boil over, with catastrophic consequences. Alone on Earth (Signal Bend #4) by Susan Fanetti is a simple love at first sight, boy meets girl, love story. The connection between Bart and Riley, is pretty immediate, and moves from a one night stand to an exclusive relationship rapidly. What filled out the book was the drama that seems to just follow Isaac and Lilli around, I was in knots, and couldn't believe what life changing event has happened to them now, an event so dramatic that all of the horde is affected.

I found all of the returning characters to be true to their past portrayals, some of the new characters just plane boring or unlikable (which was the point for some of them). The violence in this book was minimal, yet devastating to people’s lives. I wished that Bart and Riley would have had more time to develop a romantic, relationship vs a relationship that developed mainly from lust, rebellion, the short time they had together, and the need to not have an empty life. I enjoyed that Bart and Riley were polar opposites, coming from different worlds, but were able to accept each other so easily. I found it interesting that Riley was accepted by the horde so quickly, it seemed that Lilli and Shannon had more difficulty gaining their acceptance( possibly that was because of their love interests and their position with the MC.)

Although I feel that this book was not as stellar as Isaac & Lilli’s books, I really did enjoy it, I’m hooked on the series, and wait impatiently between the end of the current book and the next one in the series. I’m glad that Susan Fanetti and not an author that has “years” between books, and I’m looking forward to the novella later this month, to tide me over until book 5 comes out in April.

Riley and Bart's story is a nice romance but not nearly as intense a story and the earlier Signal Bend books. ( )
