An eloquent story in verse of the tragic genocide of Armenians in the early twentieth century. The story is beautifully rendered and deeply moving, deftly blending history and magical realism. Author’s Note, Glossary, Resources. A harrowing story of two siblings seeking refuge during the Armenian genocide, but I don't care for the element of magical realism in which an eagle is used to observe some of the most horrific of the atrocities and serve as a symbol of hope. It's unnecessary and intrusive in an otherwise straightforward historical narrative. no reviews | add a review
