A very factual but unimaginative story of a cross-country train ride in 1947. The children are incredibly passive, they don't do anything, they don't even get bored. Adult workers on the train show them everything and they evince polite interest and just enough enthusiasm to seem grateful. Nonetheless, I love it. It's such a piece of social history! Also their aunt's gloves and fascinator are... fascinating.
