I gave this book far too much time than I should have and finally quit 60% of the way through. The author, whom I don't know, asked that I review it. It's about two parents whose son is kidnapped. They're then asked to travel with British special forces to a decades old research station 5 miles below the ocean to look for something, although no one knows what. Once they find this something, they're supposed to then be in a better position to find their son. The book attempts to be a techno thriller about a unique environment, but it's poorly paced with characters who aren't likable or believable. no reviews | add a review

Imagine a secret world deep beneath the waters of the ocean, and, imagine that world can have a very real impact on you and me. Twist that with an exciting military style thriller and you have the newest book by Nick Thacker summed up.
The book is an easy read and is appropriate for ages 16 and older. There is some cursing in the book that is unnecessary to the actual story-line, though the author disagrees.
The book would receive a higher rating if the ending did not seem thrown together haphazardly. I was very disappointed as the book came to an abrupt halt with little explanation. Otherwise, "The Depths" is a delightful read. ( )
