The three cats from There Are Cats in This Book and There Are NO Cats in This Book return, and they suspect there is an intruder in this book - a dog! The blue and yellow cats have some preconceptions about dogs and don't want to meet one, but the red cat is curious - and the little purple dog is very friendly and definitely wants to meet them. Eventually they all become friends, but when the cats introduce the dog to the reader friend, the dog is scared, until they show they dog the reader is nice and friendly.
My Goodreads friend Karen recommended this book to me, and it was even better than what I expected it to be! I think she writes better reviews than me, but I didn't catch on when she said it was a '3-D modeled book' She talked about what fun the book is to search for either cats or the dog, but I didn't translate those two pieces of information to say, 'Oh! You get flaps of the animals or furniture to turn up and see what is under it!.' Since I haven't been around small children for quite a while, (my youngest son is 28 now, and no grandchildren yet!!), that's why I probably didn't understand the 3-D modeled description.

People that know my reviews know I like quotes, so here is one from this book:

'Dogs are snappy and yappy, smelly and show more noisy, hair and scary... and dogs HATE cats!
Quick friend, hide us!
Can you move this sofa?'

Guess I will find out more about this whole cat and dog thing as I am getting a kitten in a week. I am open to advise on raising a kitten.

My favorite of the three 'Cats' by Schwarz. ?Lots of flaps and a plot that children can interact with make this a more immersive experience, imo. ?á
Interestingly, Schwarz reads these aloud on youtube for us for free. ?á(Although, at least on this one, she did skip a few words.)
I will look for more by her.
For me, this is better than Schwarz's cats books. Classic cats and dogs tension with humor and, of course, lift-the-flaps.
Another fun seek-and-find romp from the creator of There are Cats in This Book and There are No Cats in This Book, this time with three cats and a dog.
lots of flaps to lift; cats talk to reader
