I received this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Clarity Hunters is the type of book I can see becoming a movie. My only complaint is that it ended kind of abruptly, I would have liked to know what happened to Hugh in more detail.

This is a story of a pretty ordinary guy named Hugh, who makes some decisions in life that cause him to spend some time in prison. When he gets out of prison he just wants to get on with his life and new business. He takes an invitation from The Merit Group, out of curiosity, and his life takes an interesting turn. Think good guys, bad guys and Black Swan theories. I would recommend this book. ( )

Rambling story, heavy on conspiracy theory. I had difficulty separating the "reports" from the main story and ultimately didn't understand the goal of the story. Reviews shows it does appeal to many but it is not my favorite of Schubring's stories. ( )

I recieved a copy for a honest review.

I had a hard time with this book. I feel had the plot been developed it would have been a much easier read. I understand there is a second book. After reading this I feel like I will have to read the second book (for a developed plot).. ( )

Clarity is the story of Hugh Brier, a former computer software designer and government snoop who is now a building contractor. Hugh is recruited by the enigmatic Merit Corporation, a think-tank of mysterious affiliations. Hugh resists the generous benefits and entitlements that Merit offers him. But after he suffers through a string of bad events and it seems as if the universe is conspiring against him, Hugh realizes that it may be time to ask Merit for help in solving his problems – an alliance that does not come without a high price. We’re never quite sure just what the Merit Corporation is, but we know one thing: there’s no such thing as a coincidence, and sometimes when bad things happen, it’s more than just bad luck.

This is an interesting psychological thriller that held my attention throughout the book. It offers a glimpse into ethical dilemmas, the possibility of high-level conspiracies, and shadowy political puppet-masters. What would you do if you were backed into a corner and there was only one way out?

I was given a free copy of this book as an Early Reviewer through LibaryThing. In exchange, I agreed to provide an honest and unbiased review. I have never met the author. ( )
