I enjoyed this book and will definitely be getting the sequels. Have you ever been watching a movie and you find yourself telling he characters not to do something or calling them an idiot because they can't see something that is so obvious to you? Yeah, this book is like that. Read it. ( )

Chased by Fire by D.K. Holmberg is the first book in The Cloud Warrior Saga. When Tan meets a stranger on the road, his mother sends Tan on a mission to assist the stranger in finding an artifact.

There is a lot of potential with this story. There is magic, creatures, fighting, and romance. The creatures and characters are vivid, but the descriptions involving certain aspects of the magic are rather detailed causing the story to be slow paced for most of the book. I feel this story is for middle grade children and adults alike. Overall, I'm curious to see where the story takes Tan. ( )

I certainly enjoyed this fast paced and well crafted first book in the Cloud Warrior series. As an earth senser, Tan's tasked with helping guide the king's servant through the dangerous mountain passes in search for "the artifact" before Incendin can reach it first. But after losing his father to the war, Tan wants nothing to do with the king's demands. When everything he knows is lost, he's forced to risk himself to save the one person who can find the artifact, a beautiful girl who has lost just as much as Tan. In doing so, power the world hasn't seen in nearly a thousand years is awoken.
I thought the characters in this story were well thought out and the story fast paced. It's a great start to a series and certainly worth your time and effort to read, for all ages. I'm looking forward to the next book in the Cloud Warrior Saga.
