David Lasser stands as one of the least-known but extraordinary pioneers of spaceflight. In 1930 he founded the American Interplanetary Society (AIAA) -- the same year he wrote this book -- the first book ever written in the English language to address the notion of spaceflight as a serious possibility. David Lasser (1902-1996) Long before the first astronaut launched into space, David Lasser foresaw the possibilities of the rocket. In 1924 he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at MIT, before landing a position in 1929 as Managing Editor of Hugo Gernsback's Science Wonder Stories magazine. In 1930, Lasser and several associates formed the show more American Interplanetary Society (AIS), where he served as its first president.
