This book explains the basic theoretical concepts of Artificial Intelligence. The emphasis in this book is on illustrations, not demonstrations or experiments. Ideally, a one-semester course in Artificial Intelligence using this book should be followed by a one-semester course in LISP. [LISP is an acronym for List Processing Language, a high-level computer language invented by Professor John McCarthy in 1961 to support research into computer based logic, logical reasoning, and artificial intelligence. It was the first symbolic (as opposed to numeric) computer processing language.]
