Odelia Grey's relaxing day of errands is ruined when she finds a body folded like an origami crane in the trunk of her car. This is #10 in the Odelia Grey series and I definitely need to go back and read the rest.

Odelia and her mother, Grace, are out running errands. After stopping at the car wash, they are getting ready to leave when they hear a scream. In the trunk of her car, the attendants find a dead, naked body, curled up, tied and with a note attached. Immediately Odelia is handcuffed and taken to the police station, at the top of the suspect list. She and her husband, Greg, decide to learn all they can about the victim, and who might have had a grudge against Odelia to frame her like that, while convincing Odelia's mother not to write about it on her blog called "A Old Broad's Perspective". The feds quickly become embroiled in the case and they do not want Odelia and Greg messing around in their crime investigation. Some speculate that the high-profile victim may have been used to draw some of Odelia's connections out into the open when they come to her rescue, although Odelia is certain that her "friends" (that term is used loosely considering they are contract killers and embezzlers) didn't do it.

I like that the characters are so everyday normal. Odelia is a plus-sized paralegal who is mouthy, sarcastic, bold, and loves her husband, mother and brother very much. Her husband Greg may be wheelchair-bound, but he's strong, confident and not afraid to stand up to anyone despite his handicap, especially where Odelia or Grace are concerned. They are supportive of each other and work together as a team, whether they are investigating a murder or trying to keep Odelia's mother in check and out of trouble. Odelia's mother is a bit irresponsible, and not without her issues.

There were a few twists and turns in the story, but the ending was quite surprising and sad at the same time. I understand why Odelia is referred to as "The Corpse Magnet". I recommend this book to any lovers of cozy mysteries as well as humourous mysteries.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. ( )

Odelia starts out this book by having a body found in her trunk. Someone she doesn't know, has never seen and has no idea why her trunk was selected. What follows is a strange tale that goes back several years to a young adult who was kidnapped and is believed dead, the return of "Mother" and a whole bunch of scary incidences for Odelia and Greg.

Love this series, Hope Jaffarian keeps writing more and more books because I love spending time with these characters. ( )
