This book was more exciting than the last, after escaping the bog-men in the wilds of the Witchwood, Sebastian, Quinn, Elanor and Tom journey south on their impossible quest. In this book they all become separated and have their own adventures of being captured then having to escape. Jack Spry re appears both as an enemy and eventually an ally (with a surprise about his character???). Sebastian and Elanor seek help from Lady Ravenna at Crowthorne Castle who appears as an ally only to be an enemy. The pair then find themselves locked up and being prepared for the The BEAST who lives up on the moors. The Beast tends to all Lady Ravenna’s captives and once a year the captives are burnt up on the moor and then thrown into the bog. These sacrifices then in turn rise (with the help of black magic) to become bogmen.
Tom and Quinn venture into the mysterious moors ...where the hideous beast (in disguise as a friendly peat cutter) lies in waiting. They are captured, but in turn rescued by Sebastian in the nick of time. It is here that Sebastian finds his dragon and thus another mythical beast is found to help release the power of black magic cast by Lord & Lady Mortlake.
I can’t wait for Book 4 - THE DROWNED KINGDOM ( )
