BOOK REVIEW.
Flash : dog of old Egypt (Famous animal stories) by Lynn Hall; illustrated by Taylor Oughton. 48 p. Champaign, IL : Garrard Publishing Company, c1973. ISBN 0811648516. Hardcover.

Khufu asked his father, the pharaoh of Egypt, to let him raise Flash, one of the royal Saluki pups bred for hunting. When it was realised Flash had great skill as a hunter, Pharaoh claimed Flash as the next El Hor and took the dog away from Khufu. Would Khufu ever be able to have his beloved Flash of Light by his side again?

This short story (not a picture book) has beautiful occasional colour illustrations throughout. It depicts a time in history when Saluki dogs were raised to hunt for food, mainly gazelles, assisted by falcons. ( )
