I can not get enough of this series. Powerful, well written, truly a great lesson for everyone.
When two young members of the CKT are killed by a drunk driver, Katy has to dig deep within herself to help the rest of the cast to understand and eventually forgive the driver. Besides dealing with the deaths, Dayne has come to town to film his newest movie: the one Katy turned down as his leading lady. Sparks fly again when the two meet up. But Katy feels that the two live in two different worlds and Dayne does not want Katy to have to deal with the press.
In another story line Ashley reads a letter from her mother addressed to Firstborn. She thought it was for her older sister but soon learns the truth and there there is an older brother. show more Dayne has yet to reveal himself to him because he doesn't want the press to come down on them. show less
The second book in the Firstborn series opened with a slight tug of wonder – from the cufflinks hanger in the first book.
Unlike the first book, this one is filled with tragedy. The tragedy of sinful choices and drunkenness.
Katy with her fighting spirit doing her best to help the Christian kids theater, Wayne with his search for fulfillment, John looking for answers to his dilemma, and Ashley missing her mom while struggling about her dad, all four in need of something. None of them knowing what to do in this novel.
Forgiven is such a powerful thing and as the title says this is a story of forgiveness, each chapter pores out more hurt and you’ll wonder if these families will find the strength to forgive.
As in the first book there are show more some things like sleeping together, living together, and other things that make this better for 16/18 up.
And a struggling character looks to false religions for help and that is bright up quite a bit throughout the book.
Bailey was intriguing and I liked seeing a younger character with the slightly older characters, in this one I think that Bailey was my favorite since I got to see her breakdown grow so much. Though I do dislike all of the younger girls swooning over boys. It’s just not something I enjoy reading about. Neither was the kissing between Dayne and Katy…

Another fulfilling story. Sometimes the 2nd or greater in a series disappoints. Not this one. Just as wonderful as the first book in the Firstborn Series. The characters continue to unveil pieces of themselves to the reader. They could be your neighbors, friends or family. So glad the author fills in all the extras. I look forward the rest of the series. So many story lines to wonder about.
The 2nd book in the series continues with actor Dayne Matthews and Katy Hart (Bloomington's home town girl). Can a popular movie star ever find love with a family and girl from Bloomington and will the Baxter family every find out who Dayne really is??
