Three sisters, daughters of newspaper tycoon Keagan Hayes, follow very different paths in life with Cameron, the oldest, taking a job with a rival newspaper in 1941 and heading off on assignment to Russia; Blair giving her all to become a Hollywood star; and college student Jackie trying to hold to her Christian ideals by befriending a Japanese American boy.Tags

I've read this book a few times but the last time was many years ago. It's the first in a four book series that starts in 1941 during WW2. It's about three sisters Cameron, Blair and Jackie who live in Beverly Hills California. Their father is a newspaper mogul who wanted sons and does not have a good relationship with any of his daughters. Cameron is the oldest and she's a reporter who wants to go to Russia to cover the war. Blair wants to be an actress and loves the parties and glamour of Hollywood. Jackie is at UCLA and wants to be a teacher.
The book follows all three of the daughters although it seems to focus more on Cameron. I'm not super interested in Russia so I found at times that her story dragged ever so slightly. The book show more is well written and although there is some romance I never felt like it was the main story.
The book is so interesting with so many things happening. I quite enjoyed it.
There are a few minor content issues. Some light sexual language implied but nothing graphic. Drinking, an affair, some war violence.
I would really recommend this series.

Excellent story of three daughters of a newspaper magnate during World War II. This first book of the series takes places before the US has entered the war. I thoroughly enjoyed all three story lines and cannot wait to read the other books of the series.
