A delightful holiday read. Bold vibrant illustrations accompany the endearing, and humorous story. Children are reminded that everyone's family and holiday traditions look a little different.....but, that's ok....that's what makes each family unique and special.
Whether your gathering includes lace napkins and tots who share toys, or an uncle who burps and a store-bought pie, it can be the perfect holiday (if there's love, presumably). Illustrations make it clear that these families are exaggerated for comic effect, and that the creators hope that the reader's falls somewhere in between.
"The Perfect Thanksgiving" is an interesting book as it compares two families that are vastly different. One family seems to have it all together; perfect turkey, perfect manners, etc. The other family on the other hand seems a little disfunctional, yet at the end both families realize that Thanksgiving is a time for everybody to come together and share their love. The illustrations are hilarious as it does a great job of supporting the funny comments within the text itself.
This book is fantastic; it delves into a family's "not so perfect" routine on Thanksgiving. This book is a great option to choose in a read aloud around the Thanksgiving holiday. Filled with plenty of jokes, we come to notice that our families may not be the only family who are capable of embarrassing behavior.
Great book for the Thanksgiving season. About two families celebrating Thanksgiving who are very different. One family seems picture perfect with a plump turkey and all the sides. While the second family's turkey burns and the jello wiggles right on to the floor. While both of these families seem very different they all share something in common, they are together on Thanksgiving and love one another. Great for students to see how families can be very different but also the same. k-2
I really enjoyed this book because it showed how unique Abigail Archer's family is. Even though they are all different they are similar in one way and that is how loving their family is of their differences. I can use this when thanksgiving is near and to talk about how every family is different.
Review: "The Perfect Thanksgiving" is a depiction of Thanksgiving through the eyes of one child who looks at how their own family does Thanksgiving and also how the "perfect family" does Thanksgiving. In the end, the child realizes that while their lives may be drastically different, they both share the common theme of love for each other.
