I love Sandra Boynton! She has made an art out of the board book form. Often, that book format is comprised of adaptations from picture books or books that focus on simple concept ideas. Boynton creates stories, unique to this form, that are not just of interest because of concept or illustration, but are well written. In this story, she wrote a sing song chant to accompany getting ready for bed; in particular, getting dressed in our jammies. The story is silly, but it is meant to be, an absurd rhyme that is fun and lilting. Her illustrations are goofy, bright, and fun, which are the perfect accompaniment to the story. My daughters love this book, they really do, which is the joint effect of the quality of the book and how much their show more parents like it. We have read and sung it to them many a night. I highly recommend any book written by Boynton. show less
Another fun book by Sandra Boynton, toddler tested and approved 😁. The illustrations of all the pajamas are cute and colorful. This is better if you go find the song so you can sing the words, too. Perfect for bedtime.
A jump-roping chicken and a pig on a swing. A Scottie in plaid pajamas and an elephant in a fuzzy one-piece with feet. And in sing-along nuttiness reminiscent of barnyard dance
I feel like this will be part of a get thee to bed child routine thing, at some point. Great acknowledgement of the variety of pajamas out there, though nothing about people who sleep in the buff.
A good rhythmic rhyming book, fun to read aloud at bedtime. Also a good way to tell the kids it's time for pyjamas, without having to nag! We read this so often we had it memorized, and our toddlers loved it dearly. In 2002 Boynton set this story to music, and included it in the Philadelphia Chickens book and CD recording. Good fun!

A fun book about bedtime that you end up singing more than reading.
Pajama Time! talks about a group of friends who are getting ready for bed and are excited to be in their pajamas. The group of friends have a pajama party!

This book is extremely cute. I used to always love getting into my cute pajamas as a little girl and dancing around and singing.

This book would be excellent to read to a child who was about to go to sleep for the night. You could dance around with the child while you get the child read for bed and finally read the book when they lie down.

Sandra Boynton was born in Orange, New Jersey, and grew up in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Boynton's parents became Quakers when she was two years old. From kindergarten through 12th grade, she and her sisters attended Germantown Friends School, where their father taught English and was Head of the Upper School. She went show more on to Yale, entering in 1970 for her second year of college. She spent the second semester of her junior year studying in Paris through Wesleyan University's program. At Yale, she majored in English. Boynton intended to become a theater director. For graduate studies in drama, she attended the University of California at Berkeley for one year, then transferred to the Yale School of Drama D.F.A. program, but she did not complete the program. With the birth of her first child in 1979, Boynton postponed indefinitely a career in the theater. Boynton began designing greeting cards for Recycled Paper Greetings. Her designs were at the forefront of the Alternative Cards commercial movement that began in the mid-1970s. According to RPG co-founder and president Mike Keiser, over 200 million copies of Boynton's distinctive humorous cards featuring an assortment of unnamed cartoon animal characters, spare layout, and droll messages sold between 1973 and 1995. Since the 1977 release of Hippos Go Berserk!, Boynton has published many children's books, as well as several illustrated humor books for the general market. Her books are most typically for very young children, offered in the laminated paperboard format known as board books. Five of her books have been New York Times best sellers: Chocolate: The Consuming Passion; Frog Trouble and Eleven Other Pretty Serious Songs; Yay, You!; Consider Love; and Philadelphia Chickens, which reached the number one position on the list, and was on the list for nearly a year. Two of her books are Publisher's Weekly bestsellers, Dinosaur Dance!, and Eek! Halloween!. Three of Boynton's books are on the Publishers Weekly All-Time Bestselling Children's Books list.
