Khyber, British India's north west frontier: The story of an imperial migraine

Superb, well written and often mildly humorous account of the frontier which almost makes it make sense, which I think is an extraordinary achievement!

Good overall history of the Khyber (Northwest Frontier) area of India - recounting in chronological order much of what I had already read about elsewhere - my goodness it was a lawless, troubled area!
