Ages 1 and Up. In “Why Do I Have to Eat off the Floor?” Murphy the dog asks a series of questions (“Why can’t I sleep in your bed?”) and gets a series of simple responses (“Because you have your own bed”) meant to mimic the questions and answers between children and parents. The book is illustrated in a cartoony style with a pastel color palate. Although it is a cute concept, the book isn’t very engaging and the words have no rhythm to them at all. Not recommended.
This is a heartwarming book for parents, children, and dog lovers. It gives a new perspective on the way dogs are treated in our homes and how much we treat them like family.
