Our first-person narrator is a little red-headed boy who is deliriously excited about the new snow, and desperate to be the first one out into it! But his grandfather is slow getting ready, so others get to make tracks in the snow first. The little boy is worried about missing all the fun, but the grandfather reassures him that he won't, and he's right - "the whole zoo [is] probably out there."
Illustrations are reminiscent of Quentin Blake's style. ( )

Snow by Sam Usher is a story about a very excited young boy who longs to get to the park before anyone else so he can play in the newly fallen snow. His grandfather, however, decides to take his time getting ready while insisting on waiting. The moral of this story is very clear: be patient because often times things are worth the wait. I believe the moral was very well displayed, however, found the ending result to be less than satisfactory. Spoiler alert: the end result of the waiting was the release of the Zoo animals into the snow to play with the children. I'm all for fantasy, however, just thought the appearance of the animals was a little off topic and unbelievable. ( )

A fun book about being patient (and remembering your hat). Illustrations were well done but the text was lacking. Overall an unremarkable book.
