2152 From the Renaissance to the Counter-Reformation: Essays in Honor of Garrett Mattingly Edited: Charles H. Carter (read 4 Jul 1988) This is one of the few books during this period of my reading life on which I made no post-reading note. Therefore I have only a vague recollection of it. It is made up of articles submitted for the book which was to honor Mattingly, best known as the author of The Armada, which I read 17 Oct 1976. I believe I found them, obviously in this kind of book, of varying interest. The editor of the volume taught at Long Island University, University of Oregon, and, most memorably, at Tulane University, and was a specialist in sixteenth and early seventeenth century European history.
