It's Christmas on Mackinac Island and Allie McMurphy’s best friend Jenn Christensen has recently returned from Chicago. She's been working the last couple of months only to realize she misses her boy friend Shane Carpenter and the life she had on the island, so much that she's is going to tell her friends that she's quitting her job in Chicago and moving back to the island to continue her event planning business. She is going to take part in the Santa Fun Run since it's for charity. While out on a early morning run to get ready for the fun run, she sees a Santa laying in a snow bank. At first Jenn thinks he's just a drunk who's passed out, but she is very shocked to discover that the Santa is dead and he's been murdered. When police chief Rex Manning arrives at the scene he assumes that Jenn is responsible for the murder. Jenn and Allie are determined to find out who killed Santa before Jenn is arrested by Rex.

The author does a very nice job of describing the winter wonderland on Mackinac Island, you can almost picture what the island looks like covered in snow. The mystery is very straight forward without a lot of twists so the conclusion wraps up nicely at the end of the story. ( )
