Another Star Wars one-of from Marvel. Yes, Marvel/Disney is very good at milking this cash cow and I do fear the future of the franchise. However, this fun little pre-Bespin Lando story is pretty cool and is uniquely Lando. In the first few pages, Lando is literally pillow talking an Imperial Moff on her throne like bed. I think Lando uses the term "Baby" to sweet talk three different ladies in this story. Smooth talker indeed. If you like the grittier underbelly side of the Star Wars universe, this might sate your thirst. Lots of two timing and scoundrels galore and getting in over one's head. The lighting effects in each setting is pretty cool too. Alex Maleev does a great job of capturing the various facial expressions of a young show more Billy Dee Williams. I also have a new appreciation for Lobot. I hope future Marvel projects like this keep the same quality. show less
The story is a quick, breezy heist of the "one last job" variety, where confident plans suddenly go awry. It's fun to see the second rogue of the Star Wars universe do daring tricks and play the odds. Shame it's only 5 issues, I would've liked to read more.
This was different. I'd never really paid much attention to Lando. I was pissed at him a little from the original three movies, but, he was a secondary character, and so I never thought much about him.

But, I thought I'd read this to see what others liked about his character.

It was a cool story. He owes someone money and they'll let it be even if he does this big job (Yes, when has that gone badly...) Soon they're (he's made a team) on the run from the Empire, and he's not quite sure what's on the ship.
This is a five-part mini-series (now graphic trade) starring that charming scoundrel fans first met in The Empire Strikes Back—Lando Calrissian.

Marvel’s Lando series is set prior to the events of Episode V. The story begins with Lando having seduced a female Imperial Governor into giving him a precious item that he uses to pay off some old debts—sound familiar? But when he returns to Papa Toren, the creature to whom he was indebted, only a portion of his debt is exonerated. This forces Lando’s hand. To clear the debt, he and his band of smugglers must steal a ship from an Imperial shipyard. Yet, only after seizing the ship do they realize the cargo; this cruiser is personally owned by the Emperor and there are sensitive Sith show more related items on board.

Lando is full of mystery, action, and intrigue. Perfect for Star Wars fans.

Best . Star Wars. Fiction. EVER.

I expected little but was completely blown away. This book makes you realize that Han is nothing compared to Lando.
Spring 2020 (Live Read):

Also, accidentally read this one in the batch of comics marked for 'between Trilogy 1 and Trilogy 2,' but it's our original Lando, and not the [b:Solo: A Star Wars Story|40219589|Solo A Star Wars Story (Star Wars Novelizations, #3.25)|Mur Lafferty|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1532138289l/40219589._SY75_.jpg|62456084] one, and thus I was out of place and I only really figured it out when I slide into [b:Star Wars: Lando - Double or Nothing|39668119|Star Wars Lando - Double or Nothing|Rodney Barnes|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1542536391l/39668119._SY75_.jpg|61251279] right after it.

Well. The ending of this pretty much killed me in several different ways, thanks.
