Dead in her Tracks by Kendra Elliot is a 2015 Montlake Publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Rogue Winter novella arc. The first book is “Track of Her Tears” by Melinda Leigh and I highly recommend reading it first, if possible, since the two stories tie in together. However, this one can be read a stand alone too.

Zane and Stevie have their hands full on Christmas day when the body of a young girl is found in a seedy motel room and the prime suspect is already sitting in jail. When a shocking and unexpected hitch in the case occurs, Zane and Stevie must start all over at square one to determine who is killing young women in show more Solitude.

On the personal side of things Zane is finally getting Stevie to consider taking the next step in their relationship, especially now that Stevie sees her mother's predictions seem to be accurate after all.

This is another well written, fast paced thriller by Kendra Elliot, and for such a short story, this one packs a solid punch. This is certainly not your typical holiday reading, that's for sure.

But, never fear, there are a few lighter moments and some really sweet romantic gestures too, which will put all the lurid crime elements into perspective in the end.

I really love this series and hope to see a lengthier novel- or two- in the near future.

Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot team up again to bring us more of the Taylor family and the trouble that keeps coming to Rogue River.

Its been 7 months and Stevie has still not 100% committed relationship wise to Zane. The two are called out to a murder at a hotel of a young girl and realize that the killer they had arrested for another murder (from Melinda's book) either had committed more murders than they thought or there was another killer out there. Through out the investigation and interviewing of witness and suspects they come to realize there are a lot of shady and bad things going on in there sleepy little town.

As with the other books in this series the mystery/murder/suspense that starts in Melinda's book isnt fully show more solved/concluded until Kendra's (or vice versa).

I've enjoyed all the books from these two author's separately for years and was excited when they teamed up to write the Rogue River series and even more excited to see they were going to team up again to give us more of Carly Taylor and Seth (Melinda) and Stevie Taylor and Zane (Kendra) along with a new murder/mystery to be solved.

(ps.. its so hard to write separate reviews for these two books as they are closely connected. Bottom line I really liked both books and hope we get more stories from these two about the Taylor family)

Once I started reading this novella, I didn't want to put it down until I had finished. It is the second in this series, but I did not have any problem reading the book. There did not seem to be any information that I was missing in order to enjoy the story.

This story was non-stop action right from the beginning. Zane and Stevie work together in the police department which has been quite busy in this little town. They are called on Christmas Day when a dead body is found at the local motel and before long they are trying to solve two different murders that are possibly linked. The first is a local girl and someone has already confessed to that murder. The link is a computer USB that shows the same man putting the body of a young woman show more in the back of his truck, who looks like the woman who was found dead in the hotel. After one more murder, Zane and Stevie are not much closer to the truth.

There is also romance in the story with Stevie and Zane being a couple. The relationship between the pair worked well. I never felt that anything was forced or sappy. The excitment in this story really built until the very end and I was almost holding my breath before it was over.

I would highly recommend this novella to others. This is the first time that I have read any of Kendra Elliot's work but I plan to look for her books in the future.

Once I started reading this novella, I didn't want to put it down until I had finished. The great thing is that it really easy to do exactly that since this is a pretty short piece at only approximately 100 pages or so. I enjoyed the first novella in this series and decided to jump right into the second one. I actually ended up liking this one more than the first.

This novella picks up right after the events of the first in the series. There is some continuation of the story from the first novella so it is probably best to read these in order if at all possible. Although, I do think that readers who decide to read this novella as a stand alone will be okay since the bulk of the plot is contained within this installment with only a few show more threads taken from the first in the series.

This novella was really almost non-stop action which I absolutely loved. The more action the better. This story focuses on Stevie and Zane. Zane and Stevie work together in the police department which has been quite busy in this little town. They are called when a dead body is found at the local motel and before long they are trying to solve two different murders that are quite possibly linked.

I liked following Stevie and Zane as they worked to solve the murders. The alternating voices in this novella worked well and it was nice to be able to spend time in both Stevie and Zane's head. The relationship between the pair worked well for me this time. I never felt that anything was forced or sappy. The excitment in this story really built until the very end and I was almost holding my breath before it was over.

I would highly recommend this novella to others. This is the first time that I have read any of Kendra Elliot's work but I plan to look for her books in the future.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Amazon Publishing - Montlake Romance via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

Dead in Her Tracks is book 2 in the Rogue Winter series and follows on from Tracks of Her Tears, which should be read first. It's Christmas, but Zane and Stevie, who first featured in the Rogue Rivers series, are called out to a motel where the body of another young woman has been found. Is the suspect for the previous murder, who is in jail, innocent or is there another killer in Solitude? Considering this is a novella, it is amazing how much is going on in this story. It captivates you from start to finish. Again, there was more suspense than romance, though Zane and Stevie's relationship is developing nicely. Kendra Elliot is a fantastic writer, and I will continue to devour anything she publishes.

Christmas morning takes a gruesome turn in Solitude, Oregon when police chief Zane Duncan receives a call. A young woman's body has been found in a motel room. This is the second body found within a week. The problem? The killer of the first young woman is already in custody.

It seems that the small town has more than one killer loose and it's only a matter of time before more bodies turn up. Will Chief Duncan find the second killer before it is too late?

I really enjoyed this novella from Kendra Elliot. This is the second novella in the Rogue Winter series. I really hope there are more to come!

I received this book courtesy of Good Reads First Reads Giveaway.
Interesting idea, pretty good murder mystery

The occasional scenes animated with GIFs is an interesting addition to the story. The small town murder mystery plot was fairly well written, though it took a bit too long for Zane to put the pieces together in one particular instance. ( But I won't say more. Spoilers.)
