Bree and her brother Devon are captured from their home in Ireland by Vikings. Bree is enslaved by a Viking boy. Having lost a younger sister on an earlier Viking raid, Bree sacrifices her freedom for Devon’s. Bree relies on her faith in God to endure her suffering and makes an impact on her “master” along the way.

This book is VERY similar to Beorn the Proud. It is not as well-written, but it’s a good story with plenty of adventure and filled with themes of loyalty, courage, boldness, perseverance, and faith in God despite your circumstances. This is right on 4th grade reading level.

Viking raiders capture Bree and her brother and take them from their home in Ireland to a life of slavery in Norway. As they face these new struggles, each must learn to trust God.
