Another great addition to the series. Even more women fighting in this one. I like how they've all kept it secret. It was cool to see Molly be a badass. And Alena was great - her loving her clothes hehe and bitching about the men. Sanders is hilarious. Marc is sweet. Leilius was adorable - who I'm thinking might end up with his own protege - Arsen! All the Honor Guard is adorable though. And Ruisa who I'm pretty sure is now counted as Honor Guard. The fight is gearing up - can't wait to start the next one. ( )

As this series progresses, the books improve, from barley tolerable to decent. The mythology and characters of the book are still underdeveloped compared to higher quality books of this genre. However, as the series progresses, the author spends less time describing the actions of male and female genitals, which is a definite improvement. Battle scenes which extend for an entire chapter or more are tedious, but the story line is interesting. The women's struggles to defeat the Hunter while portraying themselves as weak and vulnerable, as well as the early chapter describing Shanti's training of the young warriors are especially interesting. In this book, the characters begin to overcome the sexism which has characterized the earlier books, accepting women (other than the lead woman, who is accepted because she is a foreigner) into their fighting force. This was the best book of the series, way better then 2 & 3 and just slightly better then 1.

The story came from multiple POV which was interesting and had a clear goal, to win back the city and take down The Hunter. I'm looking forward to the final 2 books of the series to see how it ends, and if and how Shanti can eever be integrated into society. ( )

I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest opinion. Invasion is my favorite book in the series so far. The final showdown is upon them and all the main characters are together and a few new ones are introduced. Strong ordinary females play a major role to save the day. Lots of action fight scenes and Breene's unique sense of humor abound in this book. I laughed out loud several times. I'm so looking forward to the next installment. ( )
