A Novella in the Rylee Adamson Series.... ""My name is Rylee, and I am a Tracker."" When children go missing, and the Humans have no leads, I'm the one they call. I am their last hope in bringing home the lost ones. I salvage what they cannot. When the dust settles, my heart feels as though it will never be pieced back together. But there are too many lives riding on my ability to function at my best. So I push through. And I find that I still have some fight left in me. Now I have one last task before I can rest: to find the simple ingredients of a spell. A spell that will help heal much of my wounds. But it is not only my injuries that I have to stitch closed. My sister's wounds have broken open...and perhaps most surprising of all so do another vampire's. Faris. Performed by Nora Achrati, Bradley Foster Smith, James Konicek, Chris Davenport, and Duyen Washington, Bianca Bryan, Chris Genebach, Kimberly Gilbert, Jacob Yeh, Holly Adams, Anthony Palmini, Sara Matsui-Colby, Colleen Delany, Tanja Milojevic, Jeff Baker, Rayner Gabriel, Karen Novack, Terence Aselford, and Eva Wilhelm.… (more)

I picked up the first book in the series, Priceless on a whim a few years ago. It was on sale for $0.79, I liked the cover and the blurb drew me in. I hadn't really read any urban fantasy prior to it but I've always loved fantasy and the idea of a more grown up fantasy grabbed me. And it was perfect. Everything I expected and so much more. I proceeded to demolish the remaining available books and Shannon Mayer has fast become one of my favourite authors. All of the books are full of fast paced, well written plots, hysterically funny lines and lots of heart. The characters worm their way under your skin until you're cheering with them at their successes and sobbing with them at their failures. Couldn't recommend the series more highly and will certainly be rereading many many times.

Still bawling from the last book and now this one has got me going. Fk I hate this series.

Peta! What are you doing here?

Sighs, Liam and Rylee both should've trusted one another. Either talking it all out or agreeing each other knew best.

Fates. With bad news. Didn't see that coming. Oh wait. Yes I did.

Berget's parents are dumb.

Lmao. The planning queen eh? Oh Rylee. Not even close. Ugh. I hate spiders.

Be careful, Rylee. She isn’t like the other Guardians. I didn’t for one second think she was like the other Guardians. Even they had said she was a bitch and some of them had been possessed by demons.

Yeah I guess if the demons think you suck...

“Blaz, hurry!” Sure, as soon as I get far enough away that I can’t hurry, you call for me! I hate your plans, Rylee.

Everyone hates her plans Blaz.

When it all comes down to Faris. You know you're screwed.

Lol, poor Peta. She's just trying to help and they're just trying to screw her over. Ugh dead bird. I like that both Peta and Blaz are horrified by how fast Rylee and the baby demolishes the chicken.

OMG Faris. Seriously? Fucking Faris. Lol yes Rylee, everyone knew you were pregnant.

Here's the thing. Mayer is seriously talented. Because these characters - you alternatively hate and love the villains. It's a very talented writer who can make you see the shades of gray within villains like Milly and Faris. She writes them with such passion that they're real fully functional people who have pasts with happiness and sadness and regrets and bad decisions and choices and so much feeling that it's impossible not to see how they came to be who they are.

Holy crap, Thomas was his father? OMFG his father turned him? Mind freaking blown. His poor sister. Poor Faris.

Liam!! I'm glad Rylee is telling you off about Pamela. On the other hand. Fucking Faris.

Mars. Wow.

You need to read these books in order to get the most out of,them. I let a bit too much time elapse, but still remember the characters sufficiently. This short novel keeps the story moving ahead well. Characters are still enjoyable after this length of time and Rylee is maturing nicely. ( )

This short novel is a tear jerker. It has mystery, grief, revelations, life, love, and a few chuckles. Fantastic book and a must read for the Ryle Adamson fans! ( )
