Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. This is a book of stories or chapters about a group of animals that live in the same Park. They seem to get along fine (even though these are animals that would not get along in real life) but there was always something wrong in the story that taught a message. Messages were things like being greedy, wanting beauty or importance in a mate, mean practical jokes etc. The illustrations were done in water colour and were gorgeous. This would be a book that could be used to teach specific lessons when things arose, but not necessarily something to read in one sitting which unfortunately was the way I read it. I enjoyed this book a lot at the beginning and the messages in the first few stories were quite good and the story was interesting, but as the book went on, I enjoyed it less and less, the stories were just not as interesting. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. no reviews | add a review
The Central Park Tales is a delightful children's book about the adventures of the animals that live in Central Park. It contains 10 short stories with 60 beautiful color illustrations. The main characters are Squirrel, Duck, Frog, Mousekin and the brothers Doctor Beggar (Dog) and Mister Pup (Dog). Because many of the illustrations depict real places in Central Park, the book is especially appealing to children who live in New York City. The Central Park Tales is also available as an eBook.
