It's Atlanta's senior year of high school, and she is officially infamous. Not only has she saved herself from a predator, brought down an untouchable dogfighting ring, and battled a pack of high-school bullies, but she's also proclaimed to the Internet her willingness to fight for anyone who needs help. And Atlanta can't believe what's coming out of the woodwork. From an old friend to a troop of troubled girls with connections to a local fracking company, there's definitely fire in the water. As always, the girl with the unforgettable name is not afraid to burn it all down if it means making things right. But as high school races toward its inevitable end and the hornets begin to swarm from all directions, Atlanta must decide how much of herself and her growing group of friends she is willing to risk...before it's too late.… (more)

not nearly as good as the first in the series. ( )

I immediately took to Atlanta Burns for two reasons. I share her desire for justice, or at least retaliation. And, I couldn't tell immediately what she was going to do next. Unlike me, this character will not avoid confrontation, at least most of the time. I NEEDED to see what she'd do.

So. As soon as the sequel was available for preorder, I preordered.

I was not only not disappointed in The Hunt, I found it to be as good in all ways and better in some than AB, and recommend it without reservation. I mean, the only part that nags at me is the severe and flunkable lack of school work, and I don't care. That's the beauty of fiction. It was more important to me that we're shown that not every bullet wound kills. Loved the progress, loved the messages, loved the end.

Go read these books. ( )

As with the first book in this series, I loved the characters and really enjoyed lines that obviously referenced the area in which I live (the Tioga County reference toward the end!). Chuck Wendig definitely knows how to tell a believable story populated with characters that you truly care about. The books also have a "darker, more edgier Veronica Mars" feel to them which I love since I have been a Mars fan for a very long time! My only complaint is that the secondary characters in this novel didn't grab me quite as tightly as those in the first book did. However, other than that, I give this second book in the series a definite 'two-thumbs-up'! ( )
