This Cinderella retelling is twisted… in a good way. This was such a wonderful book! In this book, instead of the sweet angelic girl we’re used to hearing about whenever someone mentions Cinderella, there is a scheming, intelligent girl who uses magic to get beauty. Also, the twist on Prince Charming is definitely… interesting. I mean, it certainly puts a twist on the classic tale.
I love how Ella knows she’s evil. She’s evil, but at least she owns it, instead of lying to herself about it. Even though we see how bad the characters can be, we fall in love with them anyways. And by the end of the book when you connect the dots and realize whose tale this really is… brilliant. Just brilliant. This is an amazing dark Cinderella retelling, put together wonderfully and I praise Anita Valle for this and the entire series. ( )

My chores mounted, my beauty blossomed, but hate curled like briars around my heart.

This Cinderella retelling was refreshing being quite dark and twisted!
I will definitely read the second book as soon as possible ✌😊 ( )

I really enjoyed this dark fairytale which integrates a number of other traditional fairytales in non-traditional ways. I love what Valle has done to the characters. There is an underlying "she has gone bad because of a man", but, really, she was bad to begin with. Sometimes, it is just too hard to be good. Love it. Love the misfit fairy godmother too. ( )

Wow! That's all I can think of saying. This retelling was amazing! So different and yet so similar to the old one! ( )
