Book 3 of the Hidden Legacy Series and the last installment in the Nevada based trilogy is a roller coaster. At the end of book 2 it was reveled that Nevada's dad had a hidden family tie and that revelation would lead to his family coming after the Baylor clan.
Nevada has to make the hard choice to have her magic and the magic of her sisters tested in order to officially become a house to gain protection against her mysterious distant family. As if that wasn't stressful enough, Rogan's ex-fiancé shows up and needs help finding her missing husband. As Nevada fights to protect her family, actually get her relationship with Rogan off the ground, and show more solve the case of the missing husband, we get nonstop twists and action.
A fantastic conclusion to the Nevada-centric portion of the Hidden Legacy series, we get so many great power reveals, relationship choices & developments, and mystery twists & reveals. The depth and complexity of the cast of characters really brings this world to life and makes this a fantastic series to dive into. I highly recommend this first trilogy and the continued series.

Nevada's involvement in House politics has had an unforeseen effect: her evil grandmother, Victoria Tremaine, Head of House Tremaine, knows where her family is and has plans to bring them under her power whether they're willing or not. This is bad news for the Baylor family as they have no real protection against their invading relative aside what they can provide for themselves since law enforcement strictly stays out of magical Family matters. Unsure of the best way to protect her family and still figuring out her relationship with Rogan, Nevada's life is further complicated with Rynda Charles, Rogan's gorgeous ex-fiancee, shows up at the Balyor Agency with a case for them to solve. Rynda's husband has gone missing and the Baylor show more Agency is her last hope since all of Rynda's friends and family have turned her away.
Wildfire is the third book in the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews. This was one wild ride! It's 400 pages of action, mystery, crazy magical abilities, more layering of the world building, memorable characters and a hefty dose of romance. And I loved every minute of it.
These characters are just so much fun. Both main characters, Nevada and Rogan, are very well crafted. By this point we understand their motivations behind most of their actions. The whole ex-fiancee thing can be a sticky subject to attempt and I think it's handled very well.I hate when authors use the jealousy angle by making their characters deliberately do "ignorant" and obviously hurtful actions to cause tension. It feels cheap. It was really nice to see this handled with characters who were aware of their actions and what was going on instead of making Nevada into the "over reactive" female. Rogan's concern for Nevada over the whole Rynda situation is refreshing. Even the side characters are wonderful. Cornelius Harrison is back as is all of Nevada's family and I love each one of them. It was great to see more of Catalina and Arabella's powers. Also very cool to go through the discovery of a latent talent in one of the characters.
The world building continues as even more powers are explored. We're given some origins into the powers themselves and a little bit behind how the powers are passed from generation to generation, really emphasizing why it's so important for Primes to be genetically compatible. It's fascinating. Also great is watching the conspiracy between Houses unfold layer by layer.
As before, this book plants its feet firmly on the romance side of urban fantasy with a couple of explicit sex scenes. They are very steamy and well written. And I'm not normally a romance fan!
That was a satisfying end to Nevada's trilogy. I was excited to read that the author plans to continue the series from Catalina's point of view as the very end of the epilogue left a nice hook. Can't wait to see what they come up with. show less

Conclusion my A$$. There has to be more! Right?? Please? The "conclusion"(edited to add: as far as I know this really is the conclusion, I am just pretending it isn't) to the Hidden Legacy series was just as fast-paced and fun as the the others. However, I found myself seriously wishing we had dual perspectives in this series. I really wanted to get in Rogan's head and, as a big romance reader, I couldn't help but feel that doing so would have done a lot to further the romantic plot (I am, after all, here for the romance) which seemed to fizzle out a little in this book BUT I DIGRESS. Andrews' has created an very interesting world and magic system that gained depth with each show more addition to the series. Nevada's family gives me ALL THE DAMN FEELS and I loved reading such a capable and kick-ass female lead. With an Alpha as Alpha as Mad Rogan it would have been easy for her to have been overshadowed but ya girl is a BOSS. This series is definitely re-read worthy and I am planing on doing just that. I am totally in denial that it's over calling Andrews' bluff, there is totally more to come from this world. show less

“When life hits you in the gut, it’s always a sucker punch. You never see it coming. One moment you’re walking along, worrying your little worries and making quiet plans, and the next you’re rolled into a ball, trying to hug yourself against the pain, frantic and reeling, your mind a jumble of scared thoughts.”
Ah, I love this series. I love the Kate Daniels series too, but this one stands out enough as a unique invention and I have to admit the first book rivaled for my affections. Pair a great story with great characters and Ilona Andrews writing style? An easy win.
Continuing where the second ended, Nevada and her family have to come into the light with their powers to save their selves and establish their family as its own show more house. Rogan and Nevada continue their already strong relationship – we get an even happier ending than the other books at the end here. Besides the side issue of dealing with her powerful and demented grandmother and paving their way through confusing house politics, there’s still the series main story that involves fighting the powers that are trying to destroy the city and change the way the world sees the powers that be permanently.
Once you start, you can’t put it down
Nevada is still a heroine I love to love. She’s tough and sarcastic but also compassionate and loyal. She’s shrugged off the worries involving Rogan (about time, who can resist the man??), is doing what she must to secure her families future, has developed even more bad-ass abilities that she gets to explore in this book, and got rid of some of the annoying traits she had brewing and starting in the second book.
Rogan is…Mad Rogan. ‘Nuff said. He’s awesome.
As much as I’ve stayed invested in their relationship (it rocks as a favorite of all my series), I’m not anxious about the possibility of her younger sister and another leading House male. Full-length side book for them too please?
Even if the grandmother is the big bad, there are epic scenes with her in the book and I can’t help but like her and want to keep her around. Curious on the future and what it holds with her and the family.
I was pleased as punch when Nevada kept on the second book’s client animal mage since I found him endearing – we get a particularly awesome scene here and a new furry friend – Zeus.
Fans who want everything resolved, well think again. It’s not resolved yet so there is hope for more books – yes, a full series is what I want anyway, so bring it on. We don’t know all the big bad players and that plot is still up in force waiting for the big fight, so hold on.
As with pretty much of all the writing pairs books, the action scenes rocked – the fights and power battles were epic show-downs that kept the heart thrumming and the adrenaline flying. Steamy scenes are hot enough to fog up the glass. I love every character, seriously.
Bring on the fourth!! Oh, and that side book with the sister, have to have that one too, and soon please? show less

It's official. I like this series better than Kate Daniels by the same authors. Maybe it's the fact that the two MC's are damn solid and there's never any doubt about where they stand and maybe it's because I love all the side characters, too, but one thing is for certain: The action and the non-action bits are equally cool and always grip my attention.
Who knew that being a Prime or becoming one could be so wrought with danger?
Well, I guess I already knew that from the previous books, but seeing Nevada cross these troubled waters with an evil grandmother on her ass and suitors begging for her hand is a real treat.
If I don't get a lot more of these books I'm gonna scream. :) You know, like a naughty fanboy who isn't getting his way? I show more think that's a good plan. After all, I think I've just crossed the line into evil fanboy territory.
Who knew that Romance could be so fun! Action, magic, and lots of hot other action. It should hit a lot of people's right spots if you know what I mean. show less

Stop! Go read some Ilona Andrews! Right now!
Nevada and Rogan are in love. Except they are still in the midst of a vast magical conspiracy to take down Houston and impose magical rule on all of it’s citizens. And Nevada’s extremely powerful, very frightening grandmother is gunning for her. So, of course, Nevada decides to take on a kidnapping case, which may or may not lead her straight into the heart of the conspiracy and talons of her grandmother.
Nevada is smart, capable, powerful, and devoted to her family. She is a great heroine-- she is highly skilled, but not in a superhero kind of way. You know she has fought and bled for all of her knowledge. Rogan is crazy, always on the verge of losing it and destroying everything in his show more path, but he is also deeply in love with Nevada and with her belief in him. Watching the two of them explore their relationship and build upon it is a joy. And the mystery/suspense plots are actually mysterious and suspenseful! All in all, Andrews really knows how to write urban fantasy. show less

This amazing third installment to the Nevada Baylor trilogy starts off with a bang, just like all Ilona Andrew’s books. There’s such tight plotting and great world-building in this series, and this book picks off right where the previous left off, with the daughter of a powerful prime who was murdered (who also happens to be Rogan’s ex, ouch) coming to Nevada when her husband goes missing. Of course, it doesn’t help that she’s decided Rogan will be her go-to guy in her hour of need, either. The Baylors have to decide whether to file for official house status to escape evil grandmother, and every time they turn a corner, they are attacked by scary things!
I love the way all their characters are complex, and the plot is as well. show more As soon as you think you understand what’s going on, the authors throw you for a loop, and that happens several times here. We had a lot of development with Nevada’s family in this book, and that was one of my favorite parts. I really hope this series continues.
