Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving is a fun children's book that makes everyone laugh. It changes the outlook of Thanksgiving in a fun way but gives. you a second chance to rethink the stories we tell children.
This book reeks of animal rights propoganda, but it's clever and cute for the most part. Farmer MacDonald is made out to be a bit scary, but they redeem him in some ways. But seriously, the man is just trying to make a living, and here all these kids go stealing from him and it is something to be celebrated because all the turkey will LIVE!
We have read this book every year, but this is the first year I've ever really had an issue with it. Probably because my son is a little more perceptive at the age he is now. I had to explain to him that the farmer isn't a villain and he wanted to know if the kids were heroes from stealing the turkeys from the farm.
This is a fun rhyming book for the little tots who just like to look at pictures of show more turkeys around Thanksgiving, but I will not be checking it out for my now school aged child again show less

Pilkey never fails to entertain. I was smiling throughout the entire book, remembering the original rhyme and sampling the new. The children were so delightful and very kind!!! A pleasure for parents & children alike. =)
Save the turkeys!!! Most hillarious Thanksgiving book written in rhyme to Clement Moore's historical poem. A few children are off to a turkey farm on a school field trip just before Thanksgiving where they learn what happens to those turkeys! Well, they are going to do everything in their power to help save them. Pay attention to the pictures - depiction of the text!
This humorous tale tells of a class field trip to a turkey farm in which the students decide to try to save the turkey's from being eaten for Thanksgiving dinner. The students stuff the turkeys under their shirts and feed the turkeys for Thanksgiving instead of making them the entree.
This was the book we used for our bookshare in the library. All the kids loved it and it was full of opportunities for personal connections. That is exactly how we started off the book share too, asking the students about their plans for the holiday or what they were thankful for. The book also rhymed and mirrored the poetry of "Twas the night before Christmas"
Not really what I expected, and simplistic, but cute enough.
