I have always liked D&D, but never felt the love for Dragonlance. I wasn't impressed by the core books. I have been going through the comic adaptations thinking I might understand why the series was so popular, but I didn't find the insight I was seeking.

I think Dragons of Autumn Twilight is a mediocre story. A lot happens, but there really isn't much action. Reading it feels a lot like the a story cut scene in a video game. Things are happening, but the characters have no agency.

The art isn't bad, but it isn't inspiring either. The dialogue suffers from the action/agency problem above with all of the characters spending a little too much time explaining things that happened to them rather than doing things.
I loved this series when I first read it as a young adult. I was just getting into D&D, and fantasy literature, and I thought these were FANTASTIC!

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of trying to re-read it a few years ago, and discovered that they read like poorly edited transcripts from someone's gaming session. (Which, really, is how they started out, IIRC). So, I'll try and remember them the first time around. I won't be re-reading them, though.

One of the first grown up books I read that was not something I had to do for school. Standard dragons, elves and dwarf story, resembling Lord of the Rings, although I did not know it at the time. The book definitely made you feel as if you were there at the Inn eating a stuffed pig and washing it down with Ale.
Excellent

Always an excellent book to reread after a few years ,the dragon lance saga is always worth the rereading every few years
