Description

Fiction. Mystery. Historical Fiction. First published as Murder in Perspective under Keith Miles. Chasing his dream of a glittering architectural career, Merlin Richards has left the Welsh valleys for the Arizona desert, propelled by a handwritten note from the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright. Richards arrives at the Arizona Biltmore hotel, where he meets a beautiful young designer named Rosa Lustig. Like every man in her circle, Merlin is captivated by Rosa but soon finds himself the prime show more suspect in her murder. Jealous suitors, envious workers, and the cynical police are all convinced that Richards is the killer. As he begins to put the pieces of the puzzle together, what he builds is not the impressive edifice he came to learn about, but a defence that will imprison a murderer. show less

Edward Marston/Keith Miles writes historical mysteries, and this is the first of a series based on murders around a Welsh architect. Desperate to meet his idol, Frank Lloyd Wright, he heads to Arizona where a Biltmore is being built. The young lady who assists him is killed, and there are lots of questions to answer: is the hotel really Wright's design or is he, as he claims, "just a consultant" to the architect, a former student? Why is the foreman so angry at anyone approaching the concrete brick factory? Just who is the Indian who cannot speak English very well? And are the Phoenix detectives really that much of an "Abbott and Costello" team? Enjoyable fluff as a cozy mystery (I knew who the killer was long before the revelation), show more but Marston/Miles' books are always readable. show less
