Description

Adorkable (ah-dor-kuh-bul): Descriptive term meaning to be equal parts dorky and adorable. For reference, see Sally Spitz. Seventeen-year-old Sally Spitz is done with dating. Or at least, she's done with the horrible blind dates/hookups/sneak attacks her matchmaking bestie, Hooker, sets her up on. There's only so much one geek girl and Gryffindor supporter can take. Her solution: she needs a fake boyfriend. And fast. Enter Becks, soccer phenom, all-around-hottie, and Sally's best friend show more practically since birth. When Sally asks Becks to be her F.B.F. (fake boyfriend), Becks is only too happy to be used. He'd do anything for Sal-even if that means giving her PDA lessons in his bedroom, saying she's "more than pretty," and expertly kissing her at parties. The problem: Sally's been in love with Becks all her life-and he's completely clueless. show less

3,5 stars rounded to 4 (because I’m feeling generous…)

Okay this book had a lot of potential and it sure had its cute moments. And if you’re either really young or just want a lot of clichés, cheese and fluff you might love this one. (Which is the reason I’m so generous with my stars.)

But my personal rating would be probably a 3. It’s not completely bad. It’s mostly entertaining and, like I said, has cute moments. But there were a lot of things annoying me. Like pretty much every negative review already said - the mom and the “best girlfriend” Hooker were AWFUL! Why would you be friends with someone like that?? Since Hooker is in a lot of scenes, this had a huge impact on me liking the book (or not…) since she is show more officially one of the worst friends imaginable. Urgh…
Also the fake dating was sadly not very convincing. Becks had no real reason to but I can ignore that.

The ranting in German? Maybe it’s because I am German and I listened to the audioversion (and this rant was not fluent at all), but this was so stupid...

And the whole not shaving/shaving part? Ridiculous. What even was that?

Okay I think that’s it… It was entertaining enough to pick up other books by the author (and two of them I actually really liked) but had too many elements that were more awkward than ador(k)able. (And btw, Sally isn’t a dork at all. I hate it when people feel so special and proud because of unique hobbies and interests - not that they have them, but when people think themselves superior because of having them. But Harry Potter and Star Wars are so mainstream, it makes the “claim” to be a dork even more ridiculous…)

A very sweet story about two high school students, Sally and Becks, who have been best friends their whole lives. It reminded me SO much of To All the Boys I've Loved Before (which was published first). If you liked that one, this is different enough to still be enjoyable. It's certainly predictable but still fun. Sally's mom and friend are continuously trying to set her up with guys. She decides to get a fake boyfriend in order to make them stop.
Very cute

Overall, this was adorable and I loved Sally and Becks. The plot wasn't really complicated, but I liked how it played out. Of course I was frustrated, just say your feelings people! And I thought the 'nerdy' factor was a little too over the top. I get it, she likes Star Wars, okay already. I didn't love Hooker as her best friend. It was pretty messed up of her to keep shoving guys at her when Sally told her to stop. And she even told one guy that Sally was desperate, I mean really? But Becks was sweet and I liked his brothers too.
This was a really cute (and also slightly frustrating) YA romance. it's one of those books where you know from about the second chapter that they are meant to be together and that they each feel the same way about each other but are too nervous to spill... but it still made for a really cute fake boyfriend/friends to lovers romance.

Normally, I'm not a fan of YA contemporary but this book reminded me that there are some gems out there!

I loved Sally as a lead. She's funny, relateable and a genuine character. And the same can be said about Becks. It was so easy to see why these two are friends and why they care so much about each other.

Given the synopsis of the book, I had a pretty good idea of where this story was going to go but I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't go exactly as I thought. There were enough interesting plot developments show more to make the story interesting from start to finish. It never felt like a cliché when it easily could have.

I read this book in one sitting--it was so cute and utterly addicting that it was the perfect way to spend the day!

Inocente, divertida y geeky. Una de esas historias rosas donde sabes todo lo que va a pasar y aún así logra dejarte con una sonrisa tonta en los labios.

Puntos extras por las referencias a Harry Potter, LotR, Star Wars y Dirty Dancing, Miss Cookie.
