Description

The objective of this book is to present within the limits of one volume the major time series for the United Kingdom economy over as long a historical period as possible. The earliest figure is for the year 1199 but for many topics continuous statistical material begins in the eighteenth century, and for most our starting point has been within the nineteenth century. We have restricted ourselves to economic statistics, to the neglect, for example, of social statistics, and we have attempted show more to cover the whole of the United Kingdom, though for Ireland (and for Scotland in the eighteenth century) the data are not always available in the required form and detail. show less
