Poltergeist

This is one of my all-time favorite horror movies, and I sort of hoped the book would expand on the backstory of the characters. I imagine the book is based on an early screenplay draft. It has a bunch more about Dr. Lesh, Tangina, and the two lab assistant dudes Ryan and Marty. It does sort of explain better how Tangina and Dr. Lesh come to help the Freelings. Ultimately, though, for the purposes of the movie, I can see why they took it out - it's definitely not important to the story. There is a bunch of metaphysical mumbo jumbo that tries to explain what it's like for Tangina to be 'psychic' or able to cross mentally between dimensions, or whatever she does. There's some weird stuff about specific spirits in the other dimension - show more there's a fire spirit, a tree spirit, and some other spriit - I really fail to see how this is at all important to the plot and it wasn't explained very well.

Anyway, it's a somewhat interesting read if you're a fan of the movie. show less

The writing sucked so I stopped reading and let the book go.
