The Dark' is Neiderman's story of how one man's persuasiveness pushes others to commit evil deeds. There are some strong similarities to his earlier work, 'The Devil's Advocate', but none-the-less there is joy to be had in reading this dark and twisted (albeit, rather short) tale. The characters are well defined, especially the mysterious 'villain', who dominates every scene in which he appears. The narrative is excellently executed, creating several scenes which exude malevolence and will keep you enrapt. Unnerving from start to finish 'The Dark' is a quick treat.
