A prose version of the first stage in the Vulgate Cycle, a vast mass of 12th Century Romances. It covers our hero's childhood in the lake, and goes up to the death of his buddy Galeholt. A necessary Precursor to Malory, I think, and a pretty ordinary read in this translation. Written in the early 1200's, apparently.
