I give this book a four and a half because I think in the main text of the book, instead of the timeline in the back, it should have mentioned to what degree her writing was influential. Had I not read the timeline in the back, I would not have understood her impact on environments the United States. President JFK read her book and decided to test for pesticides. Many years later, President Jimmy Carter awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest of all. I would like to appreciate, though, her sample writing in the back. The story mentions her poetic writing but gives no detail, so I'm glad it showcased her flowery language somewhere. I'm glad to know about Rachel Carson.

To start with, Thomas Locker's illustrations are incomparable. They are museum quality. The story was well done in this case as well. It made me want to read the books that Carson wrote about the ocean.
Beautifully illustrated biography of Rachel Carson. Great for intro to environmental studies or writing biographies, study of nature art.
Beautifully illustrated. The live of Rachel Carson who was influential in the preservation of our land.
