"You see, there is safety in simplicity... in a life of simple peace, where the electricity doesn't dance across the backs of my eyelids, and the sparks don't slither over my consciousness. Only asinine peace, where my paintings don't seem to paint themselves, leaving me with terrible feelings of premonition and a chill beneath my fingernails."Seraph Black doesn't care that she's different, because she's too busy trying to to make it from one day to another, guided by a simple set of rules: show more survive her father, protect her brother, put food on the table, and remain invisible. A life of simple survival should have been easy, and it almost was, until Noah, Cabe, Silas and Miro bulldoze their way into her life, turning it upside down and setting fire to the remains. The problem was, they weren't the only people suddenly trying to take over. A mysterious stalker had begun to send her creepy messages, and he was making it clear that there were no limits to how far he would go if Seraph didn't comply with his demands. The problem? It wasn't possible to give him what he wanted, because she had a feeling that in the end, what he really wanted was her. show lessTags

Magic that binds you to two other people and a crazy stalker that's trying to stop the bond to take effect. This book gets quite dark, so beware.
I never really searched up books with a reverse harem and honestly, I went into this book without noticing that tag. Now, what I want to read is a book where relationships make sense. No forced triangle just for the sake of adding that guy that we all know is there just to spice the actual relationship.
This book is fulfilling that, in my opinion. We get a girl that gets bonded to 4 guys by magic. I don't want to spoil too much, but let's just say that not all those bonds are welcome. One is forcing her to get into a more intimate relationship with a person she loves platonically. I am quite show more interested in this one. It remains to be seen how it will be resolved.
So yeah, I find this magic bond part quite interesting. Especially because it seems it's not just our main character that got some unfortunate paring.
And let's add to that, that she is dealing with an abusive drunkard of a father, no money, and some very creepy stalker.
Despite all these dark themes, it seems to me that the story is trying to be hopeful. I feel like after the first part I am still not sure what is this story really going to be about. It could be very good or it could go very bad. show less

Frustrating and irritating, I'm not getting the appeal. At all. And I usually like Jane Washington's stuff.
It's already risky trying a young adult RH for obvious reasons - it usually fails, and it fails here. Not just for the YA reasons, though, but also because my annoyance at the MC gradually grew to outright hatred and disgust. Why be so attracted to the one-dimensional, mopey, glaring, bossy, arrogant Silas? Why keep listening to the guys when they say it's for her own good but change her life without telling her? I want to kick-drop this girl across the room. I can't believe she lets them "ground her for 10 days", control her to this degree, not give her information, all without her thought or complaints. She is so weak willed and show more not at all bright. *shudders*
